Riding at night – its a dangerous must for pedal powered commuters and the meeting of two minds have come up with a solution that isn’t just practical but creates a kinetic sculpture. Project Aura by Carnegie Mellon University students Ethan Frier and Jonathan Ota was designed ‘to improve the relationship between riders and drivers’ by making bicycles more visible at night, my take is that its just the right mix of techy cool to make you stop and stare. The LEDs are powered by transfer from the wheels and as you speed up they change from red to white.
